lyrics

I'm sick of hearing how we upset the balance
And the world would be fine in our absence
That's such a negative vision
So let me show you how to flip it

If it was really like that
Life wouldn't almost have died five times
Before we arrived, no, life's goal is suicide
And we're the only ones who can save it

How's that for positive?
It's possible, but the proof gets weird though, so here we go
Every organism fucks and dies more than they need to
Well beyond what the planet can support

They make poison out of closed systems
And they kill most of their brothers 'cause of competition
Listen, can you hear the feedback loop?
It's getting stronger that's how most in nature react too

Winners oversucceed, drown in their own waste
And get replaced by new ones who can stand the taste
'Cause we all eat something's shit
We just also learned to gas a car with it, hyeah

Let's go do something dumb today
See what we can break
I know that we'll get out of it
I'm positive

Let's go do something dumb today
See what we can break
I know that we'll get out of it
I'm positive

Snowball Earths have happened twice
Thats where the whole world's frozen ice
Greenhouse gasses, mass extinctions
All of these were caused by life, right?

But we're not automatons, we understand wrong
And we can see it coming
So while microbes and plankton are dumb and don't plan
Then I'm sure we can come up with something

Something will save us, it won't be our natures
At least not our gut feelings and base behaviours
But we can be saviours, buy some time
For every single other kind of life

Currently living, stop them from doing too well
Taking things over, choking themselves to death
If life wants to die, we can realize that
And try to fight back, yep

Let's go do something dumb today
See what we can break
I know that we'll get out of it
I'm positive

Let's go do something dumb today
See what we can break
I know that we'll get out of it
I'm positive
